What problems are we solving?
Smart scan calculates tax on expenses based on the Total amount extracted from the receipt, multiplies the number by the tax rate defined by the organisation. This could leads to incorrect tax as the receipt may be printed from a different state (on different tax rate).
Who are we solving this for?
DIY Landlords (on Mobile).
Why solve them?
This issue is causing frustrations from our smart scan users as the tax amount is printed on the receipt, but the amount shows up differently in app.
When scanning receipt with smart scan, improve the algorithm to look at lines with text such as "Sub-Total", "Total" and "Tax" to improve the amount picked out.
